'This Day of Change' Assignment

In January I had the privilege of participating in a group assignment organized by Courrier Japon that sent 132 photographers from around the world out to capture life on Barack Obama's inauguration day. Two of my images are now online with more soon to follow and a book with everyone's work is due to be published on 25 April. An English companion version will be published later in May. There is a simultaneous exhibition in Japan with about 50 photographs from the book and one of them happens to be mine. The location is the pedestrian deck at Shinjuku's Takashimaya Department Store's second floor. Access: Shinjuku station, 2 minutes from Shin-Minamiguchi exit. The work of other photographers on the project can be seen here.

Me in Maramures last month

Here I am last month wearing the tiny 'clop' hat specific to the Maramures region.

And here I am with a friend in the village store (I only had one beer by the way).

Still in the US

I'm still in the US taking care of all sorts of things. Above is a shot from last month of a couple transferring a haystack to a horse cart in the village of Valeni in the Maramures region of Romania.

In New York for a week

I am in the US in order to take care of a number of things including the processing and scanning of the panoramics I've been shooting the last few weeks in northern Romania. After this brief hiatus I will return directly to Maramures to photograph the spring plowing and Orthodox Easter. Above is a picture from my row on the Air France Bucharest to Paris flight the other day.
