The Brilliant Lise Sarfati

Lise Sarfati from FLY16x9 on Vimeo.

I have been a big fan of Lise Sarfati's work since the late 1990s when I first saw her work coming out of Russia. Since 2003 she has moved into the art world and adopted an aesthetic that surely is influenced by some of the 1998 Yale MFA female graduates such as Justine Kurland and Malerie Marder. Interestingly, Sarfati continued to shoot with her customary Leica Ms and Kodachrome (through 2010). Here she proves herself to be quite articulate. A separate text interview with Sarfati appears here.
